Dialysis is a life-sustaining therapy. This leads to a challenging path to navigate. The foundation and need for bioethics as a professional arm were founded on the challenges of having limited dialysis patients' resources in the 1970s. Which patients are appropriate for dialysis? When should palliative care or hospice be encouraged? How do we allocate resources, including when in a pandemic situation? This session will combine the Nephrologist and Bioethicist expertise and discuss how to navigate some of the most challenging patient situations.
