Glenda Harbert is the Executive Director at ESRD Network of Texas, Inc., a subsidiary of Alliant Health Solutions, a nonprofit family of companies helping governmental agencies ensure that tax dollars are used appropriately in administration of public sector health care programs. Since 1978, ESRD Network of Texas has served as ESRD Network 14, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) ESRD Network contractor for Texas.

Harbert joined ESRD Network of Texas in 1988 as a Quality Assurance Coordinator. Her progressive career appointments culminated in 1996, when she assumed the leadership role as Executive Director. Her accomplishments include the formation and operation of an 18 member Medical Review Board and the development of interdisciplinary criteria and standards of care. Harbert has provided over 150 local, national and international speeches and presentations on topics related to Nephrology Nursing, Quality Management and Improvement Tools and Techniques, the national ESRD Network Program, Patient Safety and Advanced Care Planning and End of Life.

Prior to joining ESRD Network of Texas, she was Assistant Vice President for a national corporation where she supervised operations of 15 outpatient dialysis facilities in 5 states and planned and supervised the opening of new dialysis facilities.  Her 30 years in nephrology nursing have also included bedside practice in hospital nephrology nursing with transplantation and dialysis, acute and outpatient hemodialysis as a staff nurse and Head Nurse before entering administration in 1985.

Harbert is well-published with numerous articles in medical journals where she shares her expertise in the field of nephrology and quality improvement with a national audience. She has been recognized for her leadership and contributions in her field. Among her recent awards are the American Nephrology Nurses Association Excellence in Nephrology Nursing Management Award, and the National Kidney Foundation CNNT Leadership Award.  

Harbert studied Nursing, Science at Amarillo College in Texas. She holds certifications for Coronary Care Nurse and Non-Profit Leadership from Southern Methodist University. She is a Certified Nephrology Nurse and a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality.  Harbert also holds memberships in American Nephrology Nurses Association, National Association of Healthcare Quality Professionals, and Texas Transplant Society.
